Behavioral Health and Development Services Advisory Board  

About the Board: The board was established following a mandate in the Pennsylvania Mental Health & Intellectual Disability Act of 1966. The function of Board is to review and evaluate behavioral health and intellectual disability needs, services, programs and problems and issues as they arise in relation to local health and welfare needs. The board will review and evaluate major BHDS initiatives, the Agency’s Strategic Plan and the annual Human Services Block Grant Plan.   

The BHDS Advisory Board consists of 13 members appointed by the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners. The board members include one county commissioner, two physicians and a diverse representation from fields of psychology, social work, nursing, religion, education, health & welfare, and consumer advocacy specific to behavioral health and intellectual disability. To protect against any potential conflict of interest, members may not be employed by or affiliated with any entity or organization that contracts with Lancaster County for BHDS services.
