About the Commission: The primary function of the Lancaster County Planning Commission is to prepare and implement the county comprehensive plan. The commission also advises municipalities on a host of planning matters. Lancaster County Planning Department staff present advisory reviews of local land development plans and zoning ordinance changes at regular monthly meetings of the Lancaster County Planning Commission. The citizen planners that make up the commission bring regional and subject matter expertise to discussions about the county’s future.
The commission is comprised of 9 members appointed by the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners. One member is appointed from each of the county’s 6 planning regions (Northeast, Northwest, South, East, West, Metro), and 3 members are appointed at large.
