Mail-in Ballot Voting

**REPLACEMENT BALLOT INSTRUCTIONS

On April 14, 2023 a ballot error was found. All ballots have been replaced for this reason. Please make sure that you are returning a ballot that came in your REPLACEMENT envelope and that you are using your REPLACEMENT return envelope when sending the ballot back to the Elections Office. The word REPLACEMENT will be in red on both envelopes.


Ballots will be delivered the week of April 24th. 

 

If you received an incorrect ballot and did NOT return it:

-Please discard that ballot and envelope set.

 

If you returned an incorrect ballot:

-Please return your new REPLACEMENT ballot. Your incorrect ballot has already been set to the side by the Elections Office and will not be counted.

Any registered voter may apply to vote by a Mail-in Ballot.
 
Wondering why you received a mail-in ballot application in the mail? By law, Pennsylvania must send mail-in applications to permanent voters each February. Anyone wishing to receive a mail-in ballot must fill out the application. If applications are ignored, the voter will remain on the permanent list and will not be sent a mail-in ballot. How Can I Apply for & Check the Status of a Mail-in Ballot?

 The status of Mail-In ballots can be checked by clicking this link to the State's website   



Online

  • Registered voters can apply for a Mail-in Ballot online with a valid PA driver's license or photo ID from the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

By Mail

  • Download and print the Mail-in Ballot application, located here (English) and aquí (español).
  • Fill in the application and mail it in to the Lancaster County Office of Elections. 
  • The deadline to apply for a Mail-in Ballot is 5 pm on the Tuesday before the election.

  • You can also send a signed letter to the election office, including the information listed on the Mail-in Ballot application.

Other Methods

  • Apply in person at the Election Office. Once the county's ballot is finalized and available, you may request and promptly receive your Mail-in Ballot and mark it there.
  • Contact the Election Office for more information.

Annual Mail-in Ballot Request

  • You may request to be added to an annual Mail-in Ballot request list, in which you'll receive yearly an application to renew your Mail-in Ballot request.
  • Once your application is approved, you will automatically receive ballots for the remainder of the year.
  • You do not need to submit an application for each election

Voting Your Mail-in Ballot

  • Mark your ballot, following the instructions.
  • Place your ballot in the provided secrecy envelope marked only "official election ballot" and then seal and put the secrecy envelope into the official return envelope. Make sure you complete and sign the back of the official return envelope or the ballot may not be eligible to be counted.
  • Return your ballot to the Lancaster County Board of Elections by the deadline of 8 pm on Election Day. Ballots may be mailed to: P.O. Box 2139 Lancaster, PA 17608. Voters may drop off their own ballots at 150 N Queen St. Suite 117 Lancaster, PA 17603.
