transportation_0Lancaster County is highly vulnerable to both natural hazards and human-caused disasters, such as earthquakes, fires, flooding, transportation accidents, and other incidents that may impact not only the critical infrastructures, but the health, quality of life and livelihood of businesses and residents as well. Past incidents have affected the transportation infrastructure through Lancaster County limiting the flow of goods and services and commuters traveling to and from work, medical appointments, family and other important activities. With more than 25 major highways, and over 130 miles of railways moving through Lancaster County, transportation incidents remain a primary concern for emergency planning.
