Partition Docket Index (1850-1957)

When more than one person owned interest in a property a special type of equity proceeding called a ‘partition’ action was brought to the civil courts to fairly divide a property when possible.  Partition proceedings directed the division of property between several co-owners, most commonly joint heirs, before a formal deed was drawn up. Records show civil court term, case number, location and description of property.
